A poignant story documented by filmmaker Christal Moselle who happened upon a family of 6 sons and one mentally challenged daughter isolated from society by their overbearing and controlling parents. Their only link to the outside world are the numerous movies they watched incessantly and re-enacted with precision since early childhood. How could this possibly happen on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in modern times? It did and the revelation is both horrifying and mystifying. A must see to believe film, superbly documents how the Angulo brother’s lived their lives in confinement and takes you through their journey of escape from the family’s tiny apartment to their new found freedom.
