We are at the zenith of Cristal, a superb harmony, a dazzling evanescence, with an effortless elegance and balance.” – Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, Cellar Master

1 The line-up: Bottles of Cristal, said to be the favorite champagne of Mick Jagger and Madonna, ready for sabering at the Chef’s Social Club dinner at The Pierre Hotel.

The Pierre Hotel is celebrating the Holidays in grand and glamorous style with the French tradition of Sabrage – slicing open a champagne bottle with a cavalry sword. Champagne Sabering in the Rotunda at this luxurious, polished Fifth Avenue destination is an experience not to be missed.

2. The sabering begins with Sergio Zecca, Maison Roederer Ambassador, about to release the most magical of champagnes.

The festive season kicked off in November with an out of this world dinner, course upon course from Executive Chef Ashfer Biju paired with Cristal the most famous wine from Maison Roederer (http://www.louis-roederer.com/en/wine/cristal) with the tasting led by the Maison’s ambassador, Sergio Zecca. An evening made memorable with unexpected pleasures as the crisp champagne flattered the flavors of haute cuisine. The next Chef’s Social Club at The Pierre will be in January [date TBD] and feature a curated selection of Blason Louis Wines from France’s finest vineyards, hand-picked to represent the best terroirs and grape varieties.

#4 A menu to marvel at created for the Cristal Champagne Chef’s Social Club Dinner by Executive Chef Ashfer Biju of The Pierre Hotel. Defying description there is sheer artistry and beauty in this match made in heaven.

Originally created in 1876 to satisfy the demanding tastes of Tsar Alexander II, Cristal has gone on to earn renown as the precious, luminous champagne chosen by celebrities. Indeed, Cristal has been buzzed about as the favorite champagne of Madonna and Mick Jagger and yes, for a time, it was heralded by Jay-Z.

This special Chef’s Social Club dinner shimmered in the glamourous aura of Cristal unfolding magically as vintage after vintage outdid itself.

My favorite? The Rose, of course, sheer, truly transparent like a pink diamond, its effervescence elite, and its flavor silky, luscious, and light, lifting body and spirit to an otherworldly domain, but then The Pierre (a Taj hotel) is just that a bastion of elegance and charm isolated from this hurly burly world.
