Last week, a staple in NYC nightlife culture celebrated its 20th anniversary and wow, they did it right! Slate, located in Chelsea on W. 21st St. opened its doors in the turn of the century in 2000 and has no plans to close them any time soon.

During a special VIP night, all of the VIP guests were treated to creative cocktails crafted by Liquid Lab NYC and an over the top spread of Slate signature dishes from Executive Chef Darryl Harmon. Walking into the 16,000 sq. ft. venue we were greeted with champagne served by, wait for it … contortionists, fire eaters, stilt walkers, electro-robots and drag queens. All of whom ventured around the celebration and performed to the delight with musical direction of DJ Chuckie.

A little background about Slate: this giant space is essentially an adult playground right in the center of Chelsea, which contains three bowling lanes, private event spaces on multiple levels, an enclosed karaoke room, a DIY mixology station, elongated bar with 20 beverage options on tap and yes, a 20-foot slide that slings guests from the top floor to the ground level.

Let’s not forget the other fun activities, which include an arcade, ping pong and pool tables, Skee-Ball, pinball and an 8-player foosball table. Slate also has 100 High-Definition TV’s, as well as video walls scattered throughout the place.

To help celebrate this occasion, we toasted with guests including the Real Housewives of New York‘s Luann de Lesseps, the Real Housewives of New Jersey‘s Teresa Giudice, Jersey Shore‘s Vinny Guadagnino, Bravo’s Summer House cast mates Lindsay Hubbard and Luke Gulbranson, former Miss Venezuela International Luisa Diaz and the Mets‘ John Franco.
